The climate in the region of the CHJ shows typically Mediterranean characteristics with hot summers and mild winters. The region is affected by two levels of bioclimates: the thermo-Mediterranean and the meso-mediterranean dry spells. The highest temperature occurs in July/ August with over 40°C when the most droughts occur. The annual mean temperature varies between 14 and 16.5°C. The mean annual precipitation is 500 mm. However, the rainfall in the basin is unevenly distributed, and in the southern part annual precipitation amounts to only 300 mm. In the upper parts of the basin the highest rainfall can achieve 750 mm. During the months October and November the region is affected by the most rainfall.
